VIPERS Progression

At Unstone Schools Federation we use Whole Class Reading where children of all abilities read the same text with varying levels of challenge and support.  This ensures that all children have access to aspiration all texts, and also have the opportunity to have reading modelled by the teacher, to work in groups, pairs and independently to build up their understanding, fluency and prosody.

 

VIPERS is an acronym to aid the recall of the 6 reading domains as part of the UK’s reading curriculum.  They are the key areas which we feel children need to know and understand in order to improve their comprehension of texts.
