Unstone Junior School.
The school day starts at 8.40am and the morning register is completed by 8.50am.
If a pupil arrives late, after the close of the register, without good reason they will receive a ‘U’ mark. This will be classed as an unauthorised absence from school. Students who arrive before the close of the register will receive an ‘L’
All late children should be signed in at the school office by a parent / guardian. Persistent latecomers will be monitored by the school and the local authority in the same manner as persistent absentees.
The school day finishes at 3:10pm for Infants and 3:15pm for the Juniors.
Parents must notify the school of an absence before 9:00am. A child’s absence will be recorded as unauthorised if no satisfactory explanation is given for absence or if the school considers the information received from a parent is not an acceptable reason for absence.
We have an Attendance Monitoring System which we use in school and if we feel there is a problem with your child's attendance or punctuality you will be contacted. This way any problems you may have can be sorted out before it becomes a major issue.
Unauthorised absences are followed up by the school and persistent cases are followed up.
Derbyshire County Council may issue fixed penalty notices where unauthorised absences occurs.
